Psychedelics & the LGBTQIA+ Community
Unlimited Sciences is committed to highlighting the perspective of LGBTQIA+ individuals in our research, education, and advocacy.
Our Ayahuasca Study
Unlimited Sciences is conducting the first-of-its-kind study exploring the therapeutic potential and risks of ayahuasca specifically within LGBTQIA+ communities.
The queer community’s complicated history with psychedelics presents an opportunity for reclamation and healing, allowing LGBTQIA+ individuals to:
- Explore personal and collective trauma in a supportive setting.
- Reconnect with their identities through spiritual and emotional healing.
- Build safe, inclusive psychedelic spaces designed for queer individuals.
Official Community Partner
Executive Director Matthew X. Lowe will be presenting this research at MAPS’ Psychedelic Science 2025 Conference in his talk: “A Queer Path to Wellness: A Longitudinal Investigation of Ayahuasca’s Impact on LGBTQIA+ Psychological Health and Well-being.”
contribute to
our Work
We’re only beginning to uncover how psychedelics can transform mental health and healing within the LGBTQIA+ community.
With your support, we can deepen this understanding, creating a more inclusive, empowered future for queers individuals.
How We Support the
Queer Community
Unlimited Sciences’ mission, resources, and staff are uniquely positioned to help the LGBTQIA+ community learn, heal, and expand with the help of psychedelics.
Research Spotlight
The LGBTQIA+ community has long been under-represented in psychedelic research. By studying the effects of psychedelics on queer people, we enhance our understanding of how psychedelics affect everyone differently.
Direct Support
Our Psychedelic Info Line offers direct, judgment-free access to information on psychedelics, grounded in science, like our own research on queer experiences with these substances.
Our Own Diversities
Many of our staff identify as LGBTQIA2S+ and bring both personal experience and professional expertise to our mission of ensuring that psychedelic science serves all people.
Our Blogs
Our blog provides additional knowledge for those in the LGBTQIA+ community to draw on when crafting their psychedelic journeys.
