Where can I legally get psilocybin?
One legal method of accessing psychedelic assisted therapy in the U.S. is through registered clinical trials. You can access a list of currently recruiting U.S. clinical trials on psilocybin through ClinicalTrials.gov. ClinicalTrials.gov is a registry of clinical trials run by the United States National Library of Medicine at the National Institutes of Health, and holds registrations from over 444,000 trials from 221 countries.
Another legal means of access is through the use of a mushroom grow kit. A grow kit is a legal and common method individuals can use to grow mushrooms, however, depending on where you live, at the state level, growing psychedelic mushrooms may be illegal. In Colorado, individuals are allowed to cultivate mushrooms for personal use within a 12-by-12 foot area on private property. Grow kits are commercially available online.
Foraging for mushrooms is also an option, but not necessarily the safest option unless you are a skilled forager, as some mushrooms can be toxic.
Outside of the U.S., in some countries, such as Brazil, Jamaica, Nepal, and the Netherlands, the possession, sale, and cultivation of psilocybin-containing mushrooms or truffles are legal. Websites such as retreat.guru provide destination locations for legal psilocybin retreats.
